Levante have been relegated from La Liga after losing 3-1 to Malaga.

Levante became the first team to be relegated from La Liga after a 3-1 defeat at midtable Malaga.

Duje Cop gave Malaga the lead on the half hour, after being cleverly set up by Federico Ricca.

Jose Morales levelled just before halftime and Levante desperately looked for their much-needed winning goal in the second half, but Morales harshly had a goal disallowed for offside.

Levante continued to pour forward and left massive gaps at the back, gaps that were exploited by first Cop then Gonzalo Castro to score late goals for Malaga.

Levante are bottom on 29 points, six points behind Getafe, Sporting Gijon and Rayo Vallecano, but relegated because they are behind in the head-to-heads used as a tiebreaker in Spain.

The trio ahead of Levante will be fighting to avoid the other two relegation berths along with Granada (36) and Deportivo La Coruna (39).
