LG is getting into the fitness tracking game with the Heart Rate Earphones and Lifeband. Both products will be available on May 18th. Prices have yet to be released.

The company rolled out these devices . It seems little has changed since then. And that’s a good thing. We found the Lifeband to be a nice mashup of the Jawbone Up’s comfortable band with the OLED screen found on the currently recalled FitBit Force. The Lifeband sports two sensors ― a triple-axis accelerometer and an altimeter ― to serve up accurate fitness data. Plus, the Lifeband will display incoming calls and messages as well as control media playback.

The Lifeband works with both Android and iOS devices and LG claims the battery should last five days.

The Heart Rate Earphones, well, measure the wearer’s heart rate, much like that set blogs afire weeks ago. But these are real, and provide heart rate data by measuring blood flow signals in the ear. The set includes a pair of wireless earphones as well as a controller device.

The two fitness devices will hit the States first on May 18th. Then in the following weeks, LG expects to roll the pair out to key markets in Asia and Europe.

Fitness trackers are quickly becoming a must-have add-on for mobile phone makers. Without one or two, their stables will look paltry compared to the competition.
