Injury clouds remain over New Zealand Breakers centre Rob Loe and guard Shea Ili ahead of their NBL game against the Taipans in Cairns.

The pair will travel to North Queensland ahead of Sunday's game but coach Paul Henare says a decision about their availability will be left until close to tip-off.

Ili suffered a lower back fracture in the pre-season and is yet to play while Loe has been sidelined with a foot injury, missing the win and loss to the Illawarra Hawks last week.

Ili is pleased to be another step closer to turning out for the Breakers.

When he does, it will be the first time on court as a fully contracted player after impressing at the end of last season when on a development player contract.

Henare is pleased his team have enjoyed a quieter week than the previous three, all of which have comprised two games.

"The double headers are great, the players enjoy them and it puts a good pressure on all of us as a group to be organised and ready to go with short turnarounds," Henare said.

"But equally it has been good this week to know we have one game and one opponent to prepare for and we have taken the chance to freshen up a little after a busy few weeks."

The fourth-placed Breakers (6-5) meet a Cairns (4-6) who are sixth but who won their first clash of the season 86-79 in Auckland two weeks ago.
