Melbourne forward Lopeti Timani has been cited by the SANZAAR judiciary for allegedly kicking Rory Arnold in the Rebels' Super Rugby win over the Brumbies.

Flanker Timani was given a yellow card for the incident in the 16th minute of the 19-17 win at AAMI Park on Saturday.

His leg appeared to make contact with Arnold's head while he was on the ground and upon further review, the SANZAAR citing commissioner said the incident met the red card threshold for foul play.

The Foul Play Review Committee will first consider the matter via video conference on Sunday at 5pm (AEST), with the option of sending it to the judicial process.

For a matter to be dispensed with at the first hearing, Timani must plead guilty and accept the penalty offered by the Foul Play Review Committee.
