New Zealand pop star Lorde has teased fans, hinting there's some new music on its way in a short video clip uploaded to a new website.

The singer unveiled a clip of her sitting in the back of a car, eating fast food with some tinny dance beats playing in the background, to the website imwaitingforit.com, posting a link from her social media channels.

The clip also revealed the dates March 2 in New York and March 3 in New Zealand - technically the same time - showing it looks like the singer will drop her new music at the end of the week.

Lorde has previously alluded to her new album, which would be her first since releasing her debut record Pure Heroine in 2013, and it looks like she might be going down more of a pop route than she did on her debut.

"i truly believe in the necessity of cathartic pop records in times like these - i love the big sprawling projects too, but there's something about the falls & lifts of meticulous pop, moments designed for u to feel what u need to, that's more important than ever. you're probably guessing what kind of record i've made based on these tweets," she tweeted in January.

Pure Heroine was a number one hit in several countries and Lorde won two Grammys for the single Royals in 2014.
