Majeed Waris' early second-half goal proved enough to give bottom Ligue 1 club Lorient a much-needed 2-1 win over Rennes in the Brittany derby at Le Moustoir.

Lorient had not won in the French league since the end of September, with Bernard Casoni now in charge.

The home side took the lead on 28 minutes through a header from defender Michael Ciani at a corner.

However, the advantage was soon cancelled out when Giovanni Sio punished a poor defensive pass to equalise in the 32nd minute.

Lorient, though, went on to claim all three points after Ghana forward Waris slotted home from close range just a minute into the second half.
