South African shooter Lenize Potgieter will line up for the Magic in next year's New Zealand netball elite league.

The Magic, under new coach Marg Forsyth, released a new-look squad on Thursday with Potgieter's signing a major talking point.

The 22-year-old played in last year's Netball World Cup as well as the recent Quad Series for world No.5 South Africa, and will replace English international Jo Harten.

Samantha Sinclair, Grace Rasmussen and Kelly Jury return, as does former Silver Ferns skipper Casey Kopua, who took the year off for the birth of her first child.

The Magic are missing a swag of familiar names including defender Leana de Bruin, who has retired from international netball but looks set to take up a contract with one of the Australian teams in their new domestic league.

The Magic has had limited time to put a squad together, and have had to replace departing coach Julie Fitzgerald as well as chief executive Tim Hamilton, who has joined the new Auckland franchise.

Forsyth said she was pleased with the mix of her team.

"The group we have is a mix of considerable international experience, and players with real talent and seasons of trans-Tasman league experience," she said.

As has been the case with Magic over the last three seasons we have looked to youth and have many exciting young players."

Magic: Casey Kopua, Kelly Jury, Alex MacLeod-Smith, Grace Kukutai, Samantha Sinclair, Grace Rasmussen, Sydney Fraser, Monica Falkner, Amorangi Malesala and Lenize Potgieter.
