A leg injury means Liam Malone isn't among the six-strong Kiwi team named to compete at the para athletics world championships in London.

Sprinter Malone, who won two gold medals and a silver in the T44 class at the Rio Paralympics last August, has struggled with the injury since.

The team will be spearheaded by another champion from Rio, long jumper Anna Grimaldi, competing in the T45/46/47 combined classification.

Rio throws medallists Holly Robinson (F45/46 javelin), Rory McSweeney (F42/43/44 javelin) and Jessica Hamill (F34 shot put) will all contest their specialist events.

Surprise Rio double bronze medallist William Stedman will race in the T36 400m and 800m.

He will be joined by newcomer Keegan Pitcher (also T36), who pushed Stedman at the New Zealand championships.
