A man has been charged with sexual assault after accidentally admitting to date rape during a police job interview.

Tyler Ray Price confessed to an officer that he had sex with a woman who was unconscious after a night of drinking, police said.

The 21-year-old also revealed he had recorded the encounter on his mobile phone.

When police later interviewed the woman, she told them she did not consent to sex and did not know she had been filmed.

Price, from Nitro, West Virginia, was arrested and charged with second-degree sexual assault , WCHS reported.

A criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court alleges Price went to the South Charleston Police Department last month for a pre-employment interview.

During that interview, it is claimed Price disclosed to Sergeant A.R. Gordon that he had sex with a woman after they had been out drinking.

Price later acknowledged in the interview that he had videoed the woman after the encounter was over and that he had it on his phone, the complaint said.

Two weeks later, police interviewed the woman and asked her if she had consented to have sex with Price.

It is claimed she not only did she not consent, she in fact had no knowledge of having sex with him or of a video that he had recorded, the documents show.

Police spokesman Lt Pat Rader told the station: "We always want to ensure we have the right people.

"We had got to know him a bit and it only when he came for an interview that it all went bad."

Price is currently being held in South Central Regional Jail on $25,000 bail.
