Man accused of shooting police on trial

© Getty Images A man accused of shooting four police officers during at 22-hour siege at Onepu in the Eastern Bay of Plenty is due to stand trial.

The trial of Rhys Richard Ngahiwi Warren, 28, is set to start in the High Court at Hamilton on Monday.

Warren allegedly barricaded himself in a house on Onepu Springs Road in March, 2016 after four officers responding to an Armed Offenders Squad callout were shot.

He faces two counts of attempted murder and five counts of using a firearm against a law enforcement officer.
