Man acts suspiciously by Southland school

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 10/06/2016

A man has been seen acting suspiciously by following female primary school students in his car to a bus stop north of Invercargill.

Police say students from Woodlands Primary school have been followed by the man in his car as they walk to catch the bus to and from school.

On Wednesday he ran from the bus stop, where a female student had been waiting, to a nearby silver car.

The girl told police she'd seen the same car several times over the past few weeks, often parked on the opposite side of the bus stop.

On one occasion, the car drove alongside her as she walked to the bus stop, then parked on the other side of the road.

Another female student reported being followed by a silver car in the area, at about 3.55pm.

The car is believed to be similar to a Mitsubishi Diamante sedan.

Police want to hear from anyone who has seen such a car around Woodlands-Grove Bush Rd, Mabel Bush around school opening and closing times.

Last month police issued an alert for Dunedin students to be wary of a man driving around Fairfield School in a light blue four-door hatchback.
