A man was repeatedly beaten and knocked unconscious after being thrown into the back of a car and driven around Auckland, police say.

Officers are on the hunt for two men following the kidnapping outside the Auckland's Sylvia Park in late September.

They say the pair, a Pacific Island man in his mid 20s or 30s and a very pale Caucasian man with a leg tattoo, forced the victim into the back of his Holden and drove him around wider Auckland, assaulting him until he managed to escape in rural Riverhead.
