Man flashing young girls in west Auckland

There have been two reports of a man exposing himself to young girls in the west Auckland suburb of Blockhouse Bay last month, police say.

Two incidents within a few days of each other were reported where a man has approached two different pairs of 12-year-old girls and exposed himself, on March 24 and 28.

In the first incident, the girls were in the Blockhouse Bay Recreational Reserve when the man allegedly exposed himself, and then touched one of them.

In the second incident, two other girls were walking along Hillsborough Road, opposite the cemetery, when they saw a man in the bushes on the other side of the road walking at the same pace as them before he pulled down his pants.

There is a strong possibility that these two incidents are linked, Detective Senior Sergeant Marcia Murray says.

The man on both occasions is said to be a tall Caucasian in his late 20s, of a slim to medium build with dark hair and stubble or short beard.

On the first incident the girls say he was wearing a dark blue cap, a red t-shirt with blue block letters with jeans, and the second was also wearing a dark blue cap and a grey t-shirt.
