Man found in Waitemata Harbour named

The body found in Waitemata Harbour has been confirmed as missing man Tevita Kava.

Mr Kava, 29, from Mangere, fell overboard from a charter boat in Auckland's inner harbour on June 3.

A search on water and land, involving the Police Maritime Unit, Eagle helicopter, Land Search & Rescue, Coastguard, the Harbourmaster, Navy and volunteers, on June 4 and 5, failed to locate him and the search was called off on June 6.

His was discovered in the water near Te Atatu at about 9.30am Monday morning.

Police have notified next of kin and the matter has been referred to the coroner.
