NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 11/05/2016

A man accused of shooting a woman in the leg at an Auckland apartment is on the run after discovering he was wanted by police.

Bradley Mark Johns, 37, is wanted for arrest on charges of careless use of a firearm causing bodily injury and unlawful possession of a firearm following the shooting in central Auckland last December.

A woman was shot in the leg at the apartment and while she has been discharged from hospital, she is still recovering from her injuries.

Using forensic evidence and CCTV, police have identified Johns and issued the warrants.

He is aware that he will be charged for the shooting and is avoiding officers, police say.

Johns is described as having a large build, several tattoos on his arms including Bob Marley on his right shoulder and is approximately 177cm tall.

He is from Northland but often visits Auckland.

Members of the public are being warned not to approach him.
