Man seriously injured on Otago farm

A farm worker has been flown to hospital with serious leg injuries after becoming trapped in a hay bailer near Omakau in Central Otago.

Emergencies services were alerted around 1.30pm on Tuesday and the man, a 21-year-old from Omakau, was cut free by firefighters.

He was flown by rescue helicopter to Dunedin Hospital, where his condition is not believed to be life-threatening.

Police say Worksafe NZ has been advised.
