Police have tasered a man after he threatened them with a knife following a pursuit in Auckland.

The 27-year-old led police on a chase after he sped off when they attempted to stop his vehicle on Farquhar Road in Glendene due to his driving behaviour on Friday morning.

During the pursuit, which lasted around five minutes, a police car was rammed before police spiked the vehicle on Mcleod Road in Te Atatu.

The driver then threatened police with a knife, and they used pepper spray on the man before tasering him.

A 30-year-old male passenger, who had a warrant for his arrest, attempted to flee but was arrested.

No one was injured in the incident and both men are now in custody.
