A man accused of shooting at police in south Auckland has been remanded in custody until his trial later this year.

Patrick Dixon, 30, is charged with two counts of using a firearm against police, assaulting a woman, assault with a blunt weapon and threatening to kill.

In February, police had been hunting Dixon after two shots, from a sawn-off shotgun, were fired at a sole officer who pulled over a car in the suburb of Manurewa.

He appeared in the High Court at Auckland on Wednesday morning and his trial has been set down for two weeks in July.
