Man 'unlikely' to survive party beating

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 4/07/2016

A Lower Hutt man allegedly beaten by a group of partygoers is unlikely to survive the attack, police say.

The man, currently in the Hutt Hospital's intensive care unit, was chased by a group at a 21st party on Cleland Crescent and found with serious head injuries in the early hours of Sunday.

A 27-year-old Hutt Valley man has been arrested and is due to appear in court on Monday charged with assault, although police say further charges may be laid.

They are speaking to the 30 attendees of the party and are appealing for witnesses to the attack.
