Veteran prop Myles' recruitment by the Storm is believed to be awaiting NRL approval.

Dropped from the Queensland State of Origin team this week after 32 games for the Maroons, Myles would be a huge asset for the Melbourne pack during the representative period.

Myles would bolster a forward pack missing star front-rower Jordan McLean, who's been ruled out for around a month with a broken cheekbone, while bench forward Christian Welch is out for the season.

The 31-year-old Myles' form with the Sea Eagles this season has been patchy.

He has played 26 of his 230 NRL games for the Sea Eagles since joining last year after playing with Gold Coast, the Sydney Roosters and Canterbury.
