The 30-year-old vice-captain was sorely missed in last week's second-half collapse against the Panthers, as his side surrendered a 28-6 lead to lose 36-28.

He'll again sit on the sidelines in Friday's clash with the Dragons, but says he's aiming for a comeback against the Broncos next weekend.

The back-rower has returned to light running at training but will give the hamstring enough time to fully recuperate.

"I knew straight away and was just disappointed, I knew it was going to be at least a couple weeks but I'll aim for next weekend," Mannering told Radio Sports NZ.

"Hamstrings are an injury you can't play through, it restricts you."
