One of two men accused of murder over a fatal fight at a south Auckland boarding house has admitted to manslaughter.

Tauailapalapa Mati, 33, died following an alleged fight in Otahuhu on July 18.

On Wednesday in the High Court at Auckland, Wiremu Ormsby, 26, pleaded guilty to manslaughter over the death, having earlier been charged with murder.

His co-accused, Victor Rubie, 24, still faces a trial in October, charged with murder.

Ormsby was originally charged with intent to cause grievous bodily harm but that was upgraded.
