A 'mass brawl' involving around 50 people broke out on a packed BEACH in Kent as temperatures soared today.

Emergency services rushed to reports of a 'punch up' in Margate at around 5.05pm.

The air ambulance helicopter was forced to land on the sands amid the sunbathers - which is reported to have been supported by at least two other ambulances on the ground.

A doctor and paramedic gave emergency treatment to a man at the scene who was then airlifted to the major trauma centre at King's College Hospital in London.

The first pictures from the scene showed someone being stretchered away by paramedics.

KentOnline reported that "dozens of youngsters' were involved in the fracas - which police who rushed to the scene initially said was a 'disturbance' but later confirmed it was a 'large fight' .

One Twitter user posted online: "That fight on margate beach was insane !! 50+people punching the s--t out of each other!"

The beach had been packed with families enjoying one of the hottest days this year.

It was claimed on social media that at least one person has been hurt with 'head trauma and damage to an eye'.

There were also claims on Twitter that someone had been stabbed in a 'large fight' on the beach, but the police said tonight that was not true.

There are also unconfirmed reports online that the 'fight broke out over a girl'.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "There's a lot of speculation.

"We making enquiries and trying to establish what happened.

"We're trying to get to the bottom of it. A lot of kids were filming it."

Kent Police issued a statement saying: "Police were alerted at 5.05pm to reports of a disturbance on Margate beach involving about 50 young people.

"One teenage boy has been taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

"Officers are investigating the incident."

It added that nobody had been reported to have been stabbed.

MirrorOnline has contacted Kent Air Ambulance Service for comment.

Kent Police confirmed there had been no arrests.
