English county cricket club Birmingham Bears have snapped up Australia wicketkeeper-batsman Matthew Wade for the closing stages of their T20 Blast North Group campaign.

Wade is slated to feature in the Bears' final six matches as a replacement for Luke Ronchi, who will end his stay at Edgbaston early in order to join New Zealand ahead of their tour of Zimbabwe and South Africa.

"Matthew is an ideal replacement for Luke and a great addition to the squad who will provide power to the middle-order as well as being a top-class gloveman," Birmingham's director of cricket, Dougie Brown, said on the club's official website.

Wade, currently representing Australia in the ongoing Tri-Series against West Indies and South Africa in the Caribbean, is scheduled to make his Bears debut at Yorkshire on July 8.
