St George Illawarra coach Paul McGregor has come out in defence of his medical staff after the NRL upheld the $100,000 fine against the club for a concussion protocol breach.

The fine against the Dragons - of which $50,000 was suspended - was confirmed on Thursday, and the club has until late next week to consider an appeal.

"Certainly the welfare of our players is the most important thing to us, and the integrity of my staff should never be questioned," McGregor said.
