Kiwi sailors Alex Maloney and Molly Meech continued their steady climb at the World Cup final regatta after a steady day on Spanish waters.

The Olympic 49erFX silver medallists followed a 13th placing in race seven with two third-place results to climb one spot to seventh overall in Santander.

Maloney and Meech are still making up ground after putting a spate of first-day penalties behind them, when their boat was found to be underweight at pre-regatta measuring.

Rio champions Kahena Kunze and Martine Soffiatti Grael have taken the lead after finishing second in all three races on Thursday.

The only other Kiwi crew in Santander are 49er class sailors Josh Porebski and Trent Rippey, who dropped one place to eighth.
