Kiwi sailor Sam Meech has lost touch with the leaders after a disappointing third day at the World Cup regatta in France.

Olympic bronze medallist Meech slipped from fourth to 10th through six races after placing 14th, 30th and 19th in the three races on Thursday.

He needs a big finish to contend for a medal in Hyeres, as do two other Kiwi crews who are 11th overall at the midway point of the regatta.

They are Josh Porebski and Trent Rippey in the men's 49er class and Olivia Mackay and Micah Wilkinson in the mixed Nacra 17 boat.
