Millar clocked 20.37 seconds over 200m to better Chris Donaldson's long-standing national record of 20.42.

Donaldson, who now works as strength and conditioning coach for the Black Caps, set the mark more than 20 years ago in Melbourne.

Millar's time was also comfortably under Matthew Coad's residents record of 20.61, as well as bettering the qualifying standard for the world championships in London later this year.

On Saturday, the 24-year old sprinter broke the New Zealand residents 100m record in clocking 10.18sec - beating Donaldson's previous record by nearly a tenth of a second.
