More than a million households - 2.4 million people - are now able to access ultra-fast broadband.

Communications Minister Amy Adams says the uptake rate is just under 24 per cent, meaning over 240,600 people are connected.

Ms Adams on Monday released the latest quarterly report on the UFB rollout and says the build is 68.2 per cent complete.

The first phase of the rural broadband initiative is complete, giving access to 300,000 homes and businesses.
