Minor quake rattles Wellington

A minor 4.4-magnitude quake has rattled Wellington.

The tremor, just before midday on Saturday, caused small shaking in the CBD.

According to GeoNet it was located 25km northwest of the capital off the Porirua coast at depth of 50km.

It was widely felt throughout the centre of the country with more than 3000 felt reports registered on the GeoNet website minutes after it struck.
