More acts possible for benefit concert

More artists will join a concert in Auckland to raise money for Te Puea Marae, a south Auckland marae that's feeding and housing families suffering serious hardship.

A Music is Love concert will be held on July 14 at The Studio on Karangahape Road in Auckland from 7pm to raise money.

Three Houses Down, Sons of Zion, Tomorrow People, Che Fu, Pieter T, Swiss and DJ Hemz are performing at the concert.

Sons of Zion lead singer Rio Panapa told TVNZ's Marae programme on Sunday other artists had contacted organisers so more acts would be announced before the concert.

He said the bands were using their platform in a positive way and the interest from other artists demonstrated solidarity in the music community.

"I think on the surface level all of us as New Zealanders, you know, we should be playing our part," he said.

The government, as the leaders of the nation, had to solve the problem.

"We're just trying to play our part," he said.

The group of musicians behind the concert ultimately want to raise $100,000 to help the marae.
