The man who threatened to put 1080 poison into infant formula has had 15 months added to his jail term for earlier drug offences.

Jeremy Kerr, 60, was sentenced in the High Court at Auckland on Friday after admitting four charges of possessing a class C drug for supply, and one of selling a class C drug in late 2011.

A covert 2011 police operation uncovered Kerr had about 32,000 party pills for supply worth potentially more than $1 million.

Kerr is already serving eight-and-a-half years for blackmail after sending two anonymous pieces of mail to Fonterra and Federated Farmers in 2014 threatening to put 1080 into infant formula unless the pesticide was banned.

The letters, which also contained bags of milk powder laced with 1080, prompted an enormous and costly response by the dairy industry, government departments, police and other businesses.
