* 1997 - Deputy Prime Minister and NZ First leader Winston Peters accused of assaulting National's John Banks outside the debating chamber. The privileges committee decides Mr Banks was "restrained against his will".

* 1998 - Opposition leader Jim Bolger famously throws his pen across the chamber when Deputy Prime Minister Geoffrey Palmer questions his intelligence.

* 2005 Prime Minister Helen Clark ordered out for interjecting while National's Nick Smith was asking a question.

* 2006 - NZ First MP Ron Mark is shown on parliament's video covertly giving the finger to National's Tau Henare.

* 2006 - National's Bob Clarkson claims Labour's Trevor Mallard hit him on the head in the debating chamber. Mr Mallard said he was carrying a bunch of folders which might have accidentally touched Mr Clarkson's head.

* 2007 - Broadcasting Minister Steve Maharey ordered to apologise for saying "f... you" to National's Jonathan Coleman.

* 2015 - Ron Mark is caught again, muttering "Shut the f... up" to government MPs. It was barely audible, but the sign language interpreter heard it and showed the finger.

* 2016 - Within the space of a few weeks, Ron Mark gets away with calling an unidentified National MP "a lying little s..." and Health Minister Jonathan Coleman "a lying prat".
