Mum and baby airlifted to hospital

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 16/04/2016

A woman who just made it to a medical centre to give birth has been flown to hospital.

The 28-year-old experienced sudden contractions on Saturday so her partner took her to Te Kaha Medical Centre in the Bay of Plenty.

The baby boy, who was premature, was born soon after they arrived.

The Trustpower TECT rescue helicopter was called to take them to Whakatane Hospital for observation.

Mum and baby are doing well, the rescue helicopter operator said.
