An arrest warrant has been issued for the woman who admitted abusing a group of Muslim women in Huntly after she failed to show up to court for sentencing.

Megan Sarah Louise Walton, 27, was due in Hamilton District Court on Tuesday after earlier admitting charges stemming from the incident in February.

The Muslim women, from Auckland, were at a rest stop in Huntly when Walton hurled racial abuse at them.

One of the group, Mehpara Khan, filmed the exchange, posted the video on Facebook and reported the incident to police.

On Tuesday, Walton's lawyer Gerard Walsh said he had not heard from his client and Judge Robert Spear issued a warrant for her arrest.
