After a slow start, the Northern Mystics have found their feet in the national netball premiership.

A 67-62 upset of the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic in Auckland was the home side's second straight win after opening their campaign with two losses.

Led by their Silver Ferns shooting pair Bailey Mes and Maria Tutaia, the Mystics inflicted a second successive loss on the Magic, who had previously bagged a trio of wins.

Mes was outstanding, sinking 30 from 33 and pulling down five rebounds while Tutaia enjoyed a riveting tussle with long-time Test team-mate Casey Kopua. Tutaia's 37-from-44 return featured a host of trademark long bombs.

Both Mystics shooters were tremendously served by wing attack Elisapeta Toeava, whose vision has impressed all season.

Magic goal shoot Lenize Potgieter maintained her prolific form, shooting 46 goals and missing just four.

However, attacking partner Monica Falkner struggled with the close attention of veteran Mystics defender Anna Harrison, whose three intercepts and five deflections were critical in a high-scoring game.

The first quarter was shared 15-15 while the Magic narrowly won each of the last two.

Victory was set up in the second quarter, won 21-12 by the Mystics.
