NZ Newswire logoNZ Newswire 14/09/2016

Police have come up empty-handed in their hunt for a Napier man they believe was armed following a domestic dispute.

Cordons were lifted in the suburb of Maraenui and nearby schools back in business following the lock-down centred on Kelvin Place on Thursday morning.

Police say the armed offenders squad was called in to help search for a potentially armed man following a domestic dispute, but they were unable to find him.

They were continuing their search.

"Police would like to reassure the community that their safety is not at risk," they said in a statement.
