NBL's Bullets signs former Breaker

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 29/04/2016

Brisbane's NBL comeback is gathering pace with the Bullets adding three young guns to their playing roster for next season.

The Bullets have signed Tall Blacks small forward Reuben Te Rangi, former Townsville power forward Mitch Young and ex-Cairns point guard Shaun Bruce, the club announced on Friday.

"Reuben, Mitch and Shaun all have proven NBL experience, but they still have the prime time of their basketball careers ahead and joining the Brisbane Bullets is an exciting opportunity for them," Bullets and Australian Boomers coach Andrej Lemanis said.

Te Rangi has played 103 NBL games and won the 2013 and 2015 titles with the New Zealand Breakers.

Young attended St Mary's College in California from 2009-13, playing in his senior year alongside NBA star Matthew Dellevedova, and Bruce was a key part of the Taipans' charge last year to the grand final series.

They join fellow Brisbane recruits Adam Gibson, Daniel Kickert, Tom Jervis and Anthony Petrie, meaning the Bullets have only four positions left in their 11-man squad.

Three of those will likely be imports, with the Bullets strongly linked to a move for another former Cairns star, American Torrey Craig.

"We have a high-quality spread of talent across positions with plenty of flexibility in the front court and we can still utilise the three available import spots if we wish to fill the wing positions," Lemanis said.
