Netball NZ name new chief executive

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 15/07/2016

Netball New Zealand interim chief executive Jennie Wyllie has been appointed to the role on a permanent basis.

Wyllie replaces former chief executive Hilary Poole, who quit her post at the end of last month after three years in the job.

Netball NZ board chairman John Bongard says Wyllie won the role due to her unique combination of high level commercial experience and an in-depth understanding of the netball environment and sporting landscape.

"We're absolutely delighted with the appointment of Jennie to lead Netball NZ into the next growth phase," he said.

Wyllie has been with Netball NZ for almost seven years, working as head of finance, strategy and services.

She brings experience across business, commercial, marketing and people management within the not-for-profit and commercial sectors to her new position.

Wyllie will start in her new role next Monday, almost three years out from the 2019 Netball World Cup in Liverpool.

"The timing of Jennie's appointment means that she will be able to guide the sport through the next cycle," Bongard said.

Wyllie described the new position as her dream job.

"Netball has been a huge part of my life for such a long time and I feel very privileged to have been given the opportunity."
