Police searching for Christchurch man Michael McGrath, who has been missing for more than two weeks, have released further images of him.

The pictures were taken by security camera at the New World supermarket in Halswell at 12.38pm on Friday, May 19, two days before he was last seen.

Detective Inspector Darryl Sweeney says the clothing Mr McGrath is wearing in the images is similar to what he might have been last observed in before he was reported missing.

The exception could be the red T-shirt.

Det Insp Sweeney says police want to hear from anyone who was at the supermarket at lunchtime on May 19.

Mr McGrath, 49, was last seen at his home in Checketts Ave in Halswell on May 21.

Police have expressed grave concerns for his wellbeing and his brother, Simon McGrath, has said it is out of character for him not to be in contact with his family.

There was an increased police presence in the Halswell area on Tuesday, with officers going door to door in and around Checketts Ave.

A leaflet drop of a notice outlining the details of the information that police are seeking was due to be completed during the day.

Police also continued to examine a Candys Road property and to interview "persons of interest and witnesses".

Det Insp Sweeney says police are unable to go into specifics about the case while the investigation is ongoing.
