NFL teams circle Taumalolo and Holmes

NZN 27/11/2016 Peter Mitchell

At least four NFL teams have expressed interest in taking a second look at Jason Taumalolo and Valentine Holmes after the NRL stars impressed scouts at a Los Angeles workout.

Scouts from the Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Eagles, New York Jets, Kansas City Chiefs and Arizona Cardinals appear to be the most interested.

They lingered after Saturday's two-hour workout for extra fact-finding, while most of the other scouts left immediately after Taumalolo and Holmes finished their drill session on the field.

The players' manager Chris Orr did not name the interested teams.

"We had four teams express interest there on the day," Orr told AAP on Sunday.

Other teams could reach out after they receive video of the workout and other data including 40-yard sprint times, vertical jump, body measurements and questionnaires the players filled out.

Some scouts told AAP they would watch video of the players' NRL games to get a better idea on how they might best fit in the NFL.

Taumalolo, the rampaging Dally M-winning forward for North Queensland, and Holmes, an electrifying fullback/winger for Cronulla, will be flying back to Australia on Monday.

Both are contracted to their NRL teams for 2017 and say they will fulfil their contracts.

But their teams and fans may face a nervous wait if either player receives an offer to join an NFL team.

NFL off-season workouts begin in April.

Taumalolo, 23, and Holmes, 21, both said playing in the NFL would fulfil childhood dreams and offer them another great challenge after achieving almost everything in the NRL.
