Andrew Nicholson is taking a punt with his horse when he seeks a second-successive four-star victory in Germany.

The veteran New Zealand eventer will hand 11-year-old Teseo a four-star debut at the Luhmuhlen Horse Trials, the first Classic Series event since the Badminton Horse Trials five weeks ago.

Nicholson captured headlines by winning his maiden Badminton title in 36 attempts, capping a remarkable return from neck surgery 18 months earlier.

He has previously won in Luhmuhlen, four years ago on Mr Cruise Control.

Two other Kiwis in the 48-rider field are Caroline Powell and Tim Rusbridge.

Powell has two mounts - Sinatra Frank Baby and Spice Sensation - while Rusbridge is riding Oneforthenotebook.
