Nine people are being treated for smoke inhalation after a house fire in Napier.

Emergency services were called a house on Rochester Street in Tamatea at about 8.30am on Tuesday.

A Fire Service spokesman said while the fire was believed to be minor and contained fairly quickly, nine occupants had to be treated after inhaling smoke.
