New Zealand will not have any boxers competing at the Rio Olympics after heavyweight David Nyika lost his second round bout at the Olympic qualifying tournament in Azerbaijan.

Commonwealth light-heavyweight champion Nyika lost a unanimous points decision to third-seeded Dutch fighter Roy Korving in Baku on Monday.

The three judges all scored the bout 28-27 in Korving's favour.

Nyika was the last of five New Zealand boxers at the tournament after the others failed to progress past the first round.

Nyika had beaten Togo's Kevin Prudence Kuadjovi by TKO in the first round.
