NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 16/09/2016

New Zealand remain rock solid in 11th place through three rounds of the women's world amateur team golf championships in Mexico.

Wenyung Keh, Julianne Alvarez and Chantelle Cassidy are a combined eight-over with a round remaining in the race of the Espirito Santo Trophy.

They have been 11th out of 55 teams after each round but have now dropped to 24 shots behind runaway leaders Korea, who are poised to win the biennial event for the third time in its last four editions.

Keh shot an even-par 72 at the Iberostar Playa Paraiso course in Riviera Maya on Friday while Alvarez carded 74. With only the best two scores counting in each round, Cassidy's 79 was dropped.

Korea's Hye Jin Choi leads the individual standings by three strokes on nine-under. Keh is the best Kiwi on one-over and a share of 14th place.

New Zealand have twice finished runners-up in the tournament.
