Scientists and politicians will be at marches around the country on Saturday to highlight the good that science does.

The Global March for Science starts in New Zealand where marches will be held in Auckland, Palmerston North, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and Queenstown.

The marches are both a celebration of science and a call for global leaders to adopt science-based policies.

The Wellington march will begin at Civic Square about 11am and end at Te Papa.

PSA national secretary Glenn Barclay will speak at the Wellington march, as will Craig Stevens, the president NZ Association of Scientists, and Victoria University professor James Renwick.

Green Party Co-leaders Metiria Turei and James Shaw, and MP Gareth Hughes will speak at the marches in different cities.
