Technical director Rob Sherman is resigning from New Zealand Football for personal reasons.

Sherman, who succeeded Fred de Jong in the high performance role just over a year ago, will retain his connection to New Zealand Football in a coach education capacity.

Chief executive Andy Martin said Sherman would be difficult to replace, having been instrumental in driving the sport's technical direction and creating a high-quality coach education programme.

It ends a second stint for Sherman, 56, who was high performance manager in 2007-2008.

He also held similar roles in Wales and Australia.
