Kiwi golfer Luke Toomey saved his best until last at the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship, firing a final round 66 to finish third in Incheon, South Korea.

Toomey's flawless six-under final round moved him from eighth place at the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club, where he began the day a massive 11 strokes behind overnight leader Brett Coletta.

Coletta surrendered his lead with a disastrous final round 75, but still finished second, two strokes ahead of Toomey, and one stroke behind compatriot and winner Curtis Luck.

Coletta and Cameron Davis had set the stage for an all-Australian final day shootout, but both crashed out, Davis's final-round 77 left him two strokes behind Toomey in fourth place.
