NZ keeper Gleeson in spectacular MLS form

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 2/05/2016

New Zealand goalkeeper Jake Gleeson has made the most of some rare game time for the Portland Timber's Major League Soccer side, producing a series of spectacular saves in their latest win.

All Whites stopper Gleeson, 25, unfurled several dynamic reaction saves in Portland's 2-1 home win over Toronto FC.

It was his third appearance of the season, having replaced injured first-choice goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey during their win over the San Jose Earthquakes two weeks ago.

That was his first MLS game since joining the Timbers in 2011, having largely played for the second team, including last year when the club won its maiden MLS title.

Gleeson started in their 1-1 draw with the New England Revolution last week before starring against Toronto in a result which improves their mid-table stocks.
