Trade Minister Todd McClay said he and Italian counterpart Ivan Scalfarotto were looking creating more business-to-business links to allow the trade, focused on machinery, hides and wool, food and beverage, and technology, to grow.

"Another way to expand trade ties is through the conclusion of a Free Trade agreement between New Zealand and the European Union, which will bring win-win outcomes for both countries," said Mr McClay.

Mr Scalfarotto, Deputy Minister for Economic Development, and Mr McClay joined with 30 New Zealand and Italian businesses at an event in Milan to bring the business communities together.
